Indiana Podiatric Medical Association

The Indiana Podiatric Medical Association (IPMA) was organized in 1926 for the

purpose of improving the standards of the Podiatric Medical profession; cultivating the

various arts and sciences of Podiatric Medicine; and encouraging continued education

of practicing podiatrists. The IPMA is the major source for foot and ankle health care

information for the public and is active in the Indiana legislature regarding foot and ankle care

issues and access to foot and ankle care by podiatric physicians.

The IPMA is a component of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). Established in 1912, the APMA is the premier professional organization representing the nation’s Doctors of Podiatric Medicine. The APMA represents a vast majority of the estimated 15,000 podiatrists in the country. Within APMA’s umbrella of organizations are fifty-three component societies in the individual states and other jurisdictions, as well as twenty-two affiliated and related societies. APMA’s national headquarters is in Bethesda, Maryland.
